Preventive Care
Most people need a check-up and cleaning together. Deep scaling is for gums that already show signs of disease.
When to Come In
You do not need to wait for pain. Cavities and gum disease often cause no symptoms until they are advanced.
Gums that bleed when you brush or floss are an early sign of gum disease.
Breath that does not improve with brushing can come from plaque below the gum.
Hard tartar near the gum line that brushing cannot remove.
A twinge from a tooth can be the first sign of a cavity.
Teeth that look longer, or gaps appearing at the gum line.
Even with no symptoms, a regular check catches problems early.
Routine Care
A professional clean reaches what your toothbrush cannot.
Even with good brushing, plaque hardens into tartar in places that are hard to reach. Once it has hardened, only a dentist can remove it. Left alone, it irritates the gums and leads to gum disease and bad breath.
In a routine cleaning, an ultrasonic scaler gently breaks up tartar above and just below the gum line, and the teeth are then polished to remove surface stains from tea, coffee, tobacco or paan.
Check-Up
A small cavity needs a small filling. A missed one can need a root canal.
Early decay often causes no pain, and cavities between teeth cannot be seen in a mirror. During an inspection the dentist checks every tooth, the gums, your bite and the soft tissues of the mouth.
Where needed, a digital X-ray shows decay between teeth and under old fillings. In-house OPG imaging gives a full view of the jaws in a single scan. You get a clear explanation of anything found, and nothing is done without your agreement.
Gum Treatment
Deep scaling treats gum disease by cleaning below the gum line, where the infection sits.
When tartar builds up under the gums, they pull away from the teeth and form pockets that trap bacteria. This is gum disease. Over time it destroys the bone that holds teeth in place, and it is a leading cause of tooth loss in adults.
Deep scaling, sometimes called scaling and root planing, removes tartar from inside these pockets and smooths the root surfaces so the gums can reattach. It may be done in sections over more than one visit, and the gums can be numbed for comfort.
Step by Step
A typical check-up and cleaning follows this order.
We start by asking about any pain, sensitivity or worries, and about your health and medicines.
The dentist checks each tooth for decay and measures the gum pockets around your teeth to check for gum disease.
A digital X-ray is taken only when it is needed to see between teeth or below the gum.
Tartar is removed with an ultrasonic scaler, then the teeth are polished smooth and clean.

Ask on WhatsAppCommon Questions
No. Scaling removes tartar sitting on the tooth, not the enamel itself. Done properly, it is safe to repeat at every routine visit.
Heavy tartar can hold teeth together and fill gaps. Once it is removed, gaps that gum disease had already caused become visible. The scaling did not cause them, and treating the gums helps keep those teeth.
A routine cleaning is usually painless, though you may feel vibration and some sensitivity. For deep scaling, the gums can be numbed so you stay comfortable.
Every six months suits most people. If you have gum disease, smoke or have diabetes, your dentist may suggest every three or four months.
It removes surface stains, so teeth often look brighter. It does not change the natural shade of your teeth; for that, ask about teeth whitening.
Yes. Children’s check-ups focus on prevention, with gentle cleaning and advice for parents.
